Conservators - Improve your media skills!

ICRI are delighted to partner with DHR Communications to hold a one day training event 'Introduction to Online and Broadcast Media Skills Training'

Tuesday, 10 October 2017 9:30 - 17:00

Henry Jones Room, Old Library, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin 2

Conservation  of cultural heritage inspires the public. As a conservator, you may be asked to share exciting discoveries or showcase unique objects. Maybe a sucessful funding bid rests on promoting your work to the media; maybe you’re  just curious to join hundreds of conservators online, and  share what’s in the studio today.

But communicating a story can be tricky.

Talking in front of a camera to journalists can be terrifying…

Meandering unnoticed through the bad-lands of social media....disheartening.

So how can we, as conservators, tell our story?  With a little help from the professionals!

This course aims to give conservators:

  • An introduction and discussion on social media
  • Advice on how to start your online presence
  • Skills in monitoring your online presence
  • Skills in communicating a simple story for TV,  radio  & print media
  • Advice on how to dress and act in front of the camera
  • Tips on how to quell the nerves and answer difficult questions!

Places are limited to 20 people.

Book your place ASAP by emailing levequee@tcd.ie. Full programme here.

Fee €50 - Bursaries are available to eligible ICRI  members.
