About this event

ICRI Conservation Activities in Ireland VII

The Institute of Conservator-Restorers in Ireland (ICRI) is delighted to host this biennial event which offers a professional forum for members to showcase their recent activities and achievements.

This is a special year for the Institute as it celebrates 30 years as the professional body for conservator-restorers in Ireland. Founded in 1991, the Institute continues to set standards of professional practice through its accreditation scheme and via training workshops, courses and conferences.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Institute, ICRI will be hosting a free 2-day virtual conference. This years' conference theme is Challenges in Conservation: Past Present and Future. The conference will feature talks, short presentations and posters with Q&A sessions throughout the 2-day event. We are delighted to have three keynote presentations: Grellan D. Rourke(former Chair of ICRI, Retired Senior OPW Conservation Architect)opens day one and will speak on the role of the Institute and the history of the profession of conservation in Ireland; Susan Corr (former President of E.C.C.O - European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers' Organisation) will situate ICRI in the context of European developments in conservation-restoration as these impact the profession of the Conservator-Restorer; and closing the conference, Siobhan Stevenson (Director of Legacy Conservation and Director of Northern Ireland Museums Council) will be looking at the changes in conservation and practice towards caring for collections and preventive conservation, focusing on how conservators integrate with museum professionals. We look forward to seeing you there.

While tickets for this event are free, registration is required. Once registered, you will receive an automated email from Eventbrite containing the Zoom link (at the bottom of the email).
