Join us on our May outing to Hillsborough Castle, the official residence of the Royal Family when visiting Northern Ireland, and the location of significant historic meetings between British and Irish Politicians during the Northern Ireland Peace Process. The beautiful Georgian mansion is set in 100 acres of gardens, woodland and lawns.
We will be guided through the house by David Orr, conservator with the Historic Royal Palaces.
All members and their family are welcome. We have been offered a special rate of £9.40 per person for the visit to the Castle and grounds. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to register for the outing.
11.15 Meet in the Lower Visitor Facility which is at the new main entrance to the castle. There is a 300 space carpark which is directly of the A1 dual carriageway.
11.50 Start House tour (conservation led)
1.00pm lunch – Two cafes on site and and access to the village for local cafes.
2.00pm Conservation Collections Care store and studio visit.
3.30pm Works (current and future) to areas of the estate - a short presentation along with a questions and answer session. Time to see the gardens afterwards before departure.
