ICRI is pleased to offer an exciting new lecture on the topic of ‘Nanoscience for Conservators’. This talk will focus on the synthesis and application of several advanced systems for the consolidation and cleaning of works of art, including hydroxides, nanoparticles, microemulsions, chemical gels and hydrogels. The application of these nanoscience-based systems will be illustrated with example treatments on historic wall paintings by Beato Angelico and Piero della Francesca, and modern and contemporary paintings by Picasso, Lichtenstein, Pollock, de Chirico.
The lecture will be presented by Professor Piero Baglioni of the Department of Chemistry and CSGI, University of Florence, on Friday July 9th at 2-3pm BST via Zoom. This online seminar is free to ICRI members, but members must register to join. To register, send an email to the ICRI membership secretary at membership@icriconservation.ie by 5pm Thursday 8th July
