Join us for 2 Thursday talks:

The Guercino Research and Conservation Project, presented by Simone Mancini, Head of Conservation, National Gallery of Ireland

Simone will discuss a collaborative conservation and research project between NGI and J.Paul Getty Museum, Los Angelos.  A team comprising conservators, curators, and scientists from both institutions are conserving and researching 'Jacob Blessing the Sons of Joseph' by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (1591-1666), known as Guercino. Art historical study is facilitated by both the Denis Mahon archives in Dublin, and the Getty Research Institute.

Conservation-restoration of furniture, gilding and decorative woodwork for the National Trust at Mount Stewart House, presented by Fergus Purdy, specialist in the treatment of furniture and wooden objects. 

Fergus will discuss his contribution to the recent comprehensive conservation programme at the Mount Stewart House, a National Trust property in Co. Down.

Open to all members.
