Virtual Lecture: Copyright for Conservators

ICRI is pleased to offer the opportunity to ICRI members to join an online IAP Virtual lecture on 'Copyright for Conservators' which will be conducted by Bernard Horrocks, independent copyright consultant*, on 26th June at 11am. This is open to all ICRI members upon registration, free of charge. 

Copyright for Conservators

1)  Very quick overview of Intellectual Property Rights (as Conservators are typically used to dealing with 'physical' objects)

2)  Very quick overview of copyright - what it is, what it protects, how long it lasts, what rights you get, the exceptions etc

3)  Moral rights of artists / estates, relating to integrity of their work

4)  The 'preservation' exception, and how this can help conservators

5)  Copyright in publishing conservation research and associated images

To register, send an email to the ICRI membership secretary Julia Poirier at membership@icriconservation by Monday 22nd June. 

IAP will send out the presentation PowerPoints to all registered participants in advance of the meeting. The Zoom link will be sent out on 25th June.

*Bernard Horrocks is a consultant in Intellectual Property and Copyright who advises museums, galleries, universities, publishers etc. on risk assessment, best practice, due diligence and all aspects of cultural heritage copyright, covering both commercial and non-commercial areas. He is also the Tate Gallery’s Intellectual Property Manager. he has practised in the IP field since 1997 and has a postgraduate qualification in UK, EU and US Law concerning Copyright and Related Rights. He is conversant with Irish Copyright Law.
