Position: Conservator – Natural History & Archaeological Objects
Maurice Ward & Company Ltd is currently looking for a qualified conservator with previous experience in object handling and documentation of collections. This full-time position, initially for a period of 6 months, is open to individuals with 3rd level studies in Natural Sciences, Archaeology, Conservation, Heritage, Museum and/or Library Studies.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience handling objects either off-site or in a museum/collection/storage environment.
Duties & Skills:
• Physical Assessment natural history, archaeological, heritage objects • Experience with conservation techniques for stabilisation and movement • Art & Object Handling experience (packing, installation, transport) • Previous experience with Collection Management Systems or similar and ICT working knowledge (state which have you used previously) • Previous experience working in museum environment or similar • Condition reporting of objects within private and public collections • Daily input of data onto digital platform • Ability to meet daily and monthly targets • Presenting weekly and monthly progress reports • Reporting directly to Project Manager and Maurice Ward management • Excellent time management skills • Excellent communication and team working skills
