The National Museum of Ireland is seeking applications for the position of Objects/Preventive Conservator (Assistant Keeper Grade II), based primarily at the Museum of Country Life, Turlough Park, Co. Mayo.

This is a full-time, permanent position within the National Museum of Ireland’s Conservation Department. The successful candidate will provide conservation support for the Folklife collections, working across preventive conservation, collection care and practical remedial conservation. The role will also involve environmental monitoring, Integrated Pest Management, condition assessment, collections storage and display, packing and transport, exhibition work, and contributing to conservation policy and disaster management. 

Applicants must hold an honours or postgraduate degree in an appropriate object conservation discipline and have a minimum of three years’ remedial conservation experience. Experience in preventive conservation, museum environments and the care of mixed-material collections is also particularly relevant to the role.
